Solution
Lightspeed chose Stripe Payments, Connect, and Terminal to power its new Lightspeed Payments offering and provide merchants with unified online and in-person payments, and integrated Stripe Capital to launch its own Lightspeed Capital lending program.
Stripe Terminal allows Lightspeed to expand its offerings to omnichannel payments, further helping to drive the long-term success of its growing customer base. Terminal also works seamlessly with Connect, making it easy for Lightspeed to onboard businesses to its platform and facilitate payments and payouts on a global scale.
Nearly 62% of SMBs were denied or received insufficient credit in 2021. Stripe Capital helped Lightspeed launch an embedded lending program that provided fast, flexible financing options for the customers to manage cashflow or invest in business growth. Stripe Capital leverages Lightspeed's existing Connect integration to pre-qualify merchants and provide a seamless application experience for its customers.
Stripe’s high-quality developer experience and best-in-class APIs also meant Lightspeed could go live quickly with both Capital and Terminal. Stripe offers helpful developer tools such as the Stripe Terminal example app, simulated readers, and Stripe CLI (command-line interface) to support Lightspeed’s development workflows.

Scalable, omnichannel payments and world-class uptime
Lightspeed’s customers want to work with one partner that can bring together all the solutions they need to run their businesses. In just three months, Lightspeed was able to go live with world-class uptime, security, and scalability to provide its merchants with a plug-and-play solution for accepting payments in-person and online.
By integrating with Stripe Terminal, Lightspeed is able to easily offer capabilities such as contactless payments, curbside pickup, faster checkouts with more responsive readers, and customized checkout experiences to its merchants. In combination with Stripe Connect, Lightspeed is able to take advantage of unified merchant onboarding, reconciliation, and reporting across online and in-person payments.
New product launches powered by Stripe’s unified platform
Building on Stripe’s unified platform allowed Lightspeed to easily integrate with other powerful Stripe business tools such as Sigma, which provides detailed and accurate reporting and reconciliation. In addition, shortly after going live with in-person payments, Lightspeed was also able to launch Lightspeed Capital, which offers retailers access to cashflow with fewer barriers, unlike what is commonly seen in traditional financial institutions.
